Embracing Failure

It’s been talked about over and over in many books and lectures.  Successful people fail early and they fail often.  It’s the only way that we can learn and improve ourselves.  Why is it that our school systems and parenting have always looked down upon failure?  In some circles failure is looked at as a joke.  In fact there are many blogs devoted entirely to failures.

Why is that?  Perhaps it’s easier to laugh at the failures among us than to celebrate and recognize true success.  Maybe it’s because at times success can be so difficult to achieve that people settle and produce average results instead of stomaching the risk of failing.  Or maybe this is one way of embracing failure.

I wish I learned this a long time ago but life is about taking smarter calculated risks.  No successful contrarian ever coloured within the lines.  Sometimes it really isn’t enough just to do a good job or just being average.  It’s about pushing one’s abilities to the outer edges - even if that means venturing out of one’s comfort zone.

Fail. Innovate. Succeed.  It’s easy to say but much harder to execute.  Okay time to do it. Now.

What aspects of your life are mediocre or average?  What are you actively doing to change that?  Are you willing to take the plunge and risk failing to effect change?
